Datuk Trio , politics of lies and deceit

This is a message from a person who lives in the Malaysian Border of the Borneo Rain Forest :-

Politics must become more attentive to those everyday conditions that have allowed the "rakyat" to remain complicit  with such lopsided policies and gutter practices.

Exposing the underlying conditions and symptoms of a culture of lying and deceit is both a political and a pedagogical task that demands that people speak out and break through the haze of official discourse, media-induced amnesia and the fear-producing lies of corrupt politicians and the swelling ranks of hatemongers.

The politics of lying and deceit at the current historical moment offers up the specter of not just government abuse, mob hysteria and potential violence, but also an incipient authoritarianism, one that avidly seeks to eliminate intelligent deliberation, informed public discussion, engaged criticism and the very possibility of freedom and a vital democratic politics.

The politics of lying and the culture of deceit are wrapped in the logic of absolute certainty, an ominous harbinger of a kind of illiteracy in which one no longer has to be accountable for justifying opinions, claims or alleged arguments. Stripped of accountability, language finds its final resting place in a culture of deceit in which lying either is accepted as a political strategy or is viewed as simply another normalized aspect of everyday life.

PRESS STATEMENT
BY TAN SRI DATUK ROBERT PHANG

ON  March 25, 2011 ON DATO’  T Video

“I had issued an offer of a RM100,000.00 (One Hundred Thousand) reward to anyone who is able to provide information leading to the arrest and conviction of one “Datuk T” for rumour mongering and causing public unrest.
Yesterday “Datuk T” surfaced to identify himself. Thus, the offer is rescinded. At the same time, I call on the police to fully investigate this matter and for the AG to prosecute the right party once an offence has been identified. Underlying this whole thing is the principle of justice and truth. No one should be maligned publicly for certain objectives- whether political or personal.
I made that offer because I had myself been a victim of such malicious rumour mongering and persecution. I am sure those who had suffered such venomous attacks would agree with me. Our Minister for Communication YB Rais Yatim was recently such a victim of false allegations of rape. There were also others amongst the top echelons of our leadership including being victims of allegations of murder. Thus, as a matter of principle we should reject such acts which would sink our country into the abyss of Gutter Politics as in the saying ” Do unto others as you would want others to do unto you.” Islam also condemns “Fitnah” (slander) as in the saying “Fitnah is worse that murder.”
The politics of this country is reflective of our mindset. Our leaders should be exemplary of how we should behave. If we are pre-occupied with perverse issues, do we want our future generation to do the same? Where will that bring our country?
The politics of governing should be based on the Rule of Law and not by the Law of the Jungle. If laws and conventions are not followed in passing laws, these are not just bad laws but also bad leadership.
Recently, a brave High Court Judge from Kota Kinabalu struck down the Constitutional amendment that permitted the Federal Govt to appoint Judicial Commissioners without consulting the YDP Negeri of Sabah and Sarawak. While the act of that brave Judge is to be lauded, that is also a reminder that our Federal Govt must respect and adhere to the promises made during the formation of Malaysia. Rights cannot just be disregarded or removed. We are constantly reminded of the Social Contract that has enabled the people of all races to live peacefully and harmoniously since our Independence. Thus, as we approach the Sarawak State Elections, I hope those vying for the people’s vote would be reminded that they would later be held accountable for all the promises they make during election campaigns.
I pray that there will be a peaceful and orderly state elections and I call upon all sides to act in accordance with the directions of the Suruhanjaya Pilihan Raya (SPR) which should also act impartially to ensure a Free and Fair Elections.

PKR MP identifies ‘Datuk T’, calls it an Umno trap

Gosh! The ad-libbing in everyday Tanah Melayu culture always had an extemporaneous way of delivery . One only needs to observe the common trait of their beating around the bush in the form of "pantun " exchanges when asking a woman’s hand in marriage to draw a conclusion of the Malayan psyche . Apparently , the syndrome has caught-up in their politics.

BREAKING NEWS
PETALING JAYA: A PKR MP today revealed the identity of Datuk T and claimed that the expose of a sex tape allegedly of Anwar Ibrahim was the work of Umno.
Sungai Petani MP Johari Abdul identified the mysterious Datuk T as Kedah-based businessman Datuk Shazryl Eskay Abdullah.
Johari said he was invited by Shazryl on Monday to view the sex video.
He said he was taken to Flamingo Hotel in Ampang to view the video in the presence of Umno veteran Rahim Thamby Chik.
“I instantly recognised Rahim Thamby Chik who was in the room with another person whom I later recall as Shazryl Eskay Abdullah,” he said at a press conference at the PKR HQ today.
He said throughout the video screening Shazryl gave narrations to explain a few matters while Rahim chipped in now and then to disparage Anwar.
“After the screening, Rahim persuaded me to leave PKR and Anwar. He promised to bring me to see Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak.
“He mentioned that he would take care of all my financial and security needs,” he added.
Johari however said he was convinced it was not Anwar in the sex video, saying that the physical attributes of the actor in the sex clip do not match Anwar’s.
He also said that the actor appeared as though he knew the act was being recorded.
